How to dye cooked pasta, spaghetti and noodles

You will need:

  • pasta, spaghetti or noodles
  • liquid food colouring
  • cold water
  • vegetable oil
  • saucepan and colander
  • spoon
  • baking tray covered with baking parchment or foil

Method:

  1. Boil the pasta of your choice in a saucepan, as instructed on the packet.
  2. Remove the pasta from the heat before it is fully cooked to allow the pasta to keep some firmness.
  3. Strain the pasta from the hot water and run cold water through before allowing it plenty of time to cool.
  4. Place the pasta back into the cold pan and pour a little vegetable oil over the top to stop it from sticking together.
  5. Next, add several drops of food colouring into the pan. If you would like your pasta to be brighter and more intense in colour, add more drops.
  6. Mix well and spread the pasta out onto a covered baking tray to allow it to air dry a little before using.
  7. Repeat the process to create different-coloured pasta.
