You will need:
- Porridge oats
- Water
- Food colouring
- Ziplock bag
- Baking tray covered with baking parchment or foil

Method:
- Place one cup of porridge oats into a ziplock bag.
- Mix one and a half tablespoons of water with about five drops of food colouring. If you would like your oats to be brighter and more intense in colour, add more drops.
- Next, add the coloured water to the porridge oats. Add the coloured water gradually to ensure that there is just enough liquid to coat the oats.
- Close the bag securely and shake it around, squishing the bag until all the oats are covered in colour. If you find that some of the oats aren’t coloured, gradually add more coloured water into the bag. Be careful that the mixture does not get too soggy, as it will start to clump together.
- Cover a baking tray with foil or baking parchment and spread the coloured oats on top. Leave them to air dry for 24 hours to ensure that the oats are completely dry.
- Repeat the process to create different-coloured oats.
