National Playday

Playday is the national day for play, celebrated each year across the UK on the first Wednesday in August, co-ordinated by Playboard Northern Ireland, Play Scotland, Play England, and Play Wales.

Find out more about the campaign.

We celebrate Playday each year to show why play is vital for children’s health, well-being and development. It also highlights how important it is that children enjoy their childhood.

Every year we come together and unite partners, volunteers and community groups to campaign for children’s right to play.

Previous Playday events have taken place in Victoria Park, Roath Park Recreational Ground, Llandaff Fields and more recently partnering with Child Friendly Cardiff on Cardiff Civic Centre, Summer of Fun event.

The next Playday celebration will take place on Wednesday 6 August 2025.  Further details will be available on our Facebook page.
